Dear Aunty Clara,
10:30 Saturday

In a nutshell, I will try to explain the why and the wherefore of yesterday. I received 2 letters yesterday just before noon and they were both from Pat. Naturally, since those were letters four & five she had sent to me without really having received a letter in return - up to that time - I thought I would answer it immediately which I proceeded to do. I did not finish it and soon my noon hour was gone. Then we quit work at 3:00 to have an Orientation Class and then the Friday Retreat-Inspection. That used up the time there even tho the Retreat was called off I slept these thru half the Orientation for I was half knocked out from general fatigue and from my feverish cold. After supper, however, the entire company was called to move earth from one place to another. A bulldozer could have done the job in a half hour - it took us 3½. I was dead on my feet - shivering one minute and like a hot box the next. The result was that the minute we were released, I went to bed.

So-long,   /s/ Roman
